a digital receipt app
1Receipt is a mobile application that stores digital receipts. When you checkout, at a partnered 1Receipt retailer, you will be prompted to scan your 1Receipt card. Once scanned, your receipt will be sent to your 1Receipt app. It’s simple!
Design a UX refresh on the current state of 1Receipt’s mobile and desktop platforms
Mobile redesign (iOS and Android)
Desktop / POS redesign
The predominant issue with both of the 1Receipt platforms were the user flows. There was no consistency and everything was kind of all over the place. Naturally, this raised issues in learnability, usability, and returnability. To eliminate the potential confusion, I redesigned the sitemaps first, and offered the client other alternatives to make the user flows more clear and easier for the future users to understand. In the end, I actually got rid of many unnecessary pages. The mobile platform’s sitemap can be seen below.
Sometimes, organizing your finances can get a little hectic. Who said the tools that help have to be just as hectic? Just like the user flows, I took a very minimal approach to the visual layout of 1Receipt. The initial set of mid-fidelity wireframes, for both the mobile and desktop applications, can be seen below.
ITERATIONS & FINAL MOCKUPS
After sending ideas and iterations back and forth, the client and I came to a visual agreement for all of the 1Receipt platforms. These final decisions and mockups can be seen below.
1Receipt was one of my favorite projects to work on, because the system will truly offer user convenience, while saving some trees in the process. It was such a great opportunity to be part of something so special. 1Receipt took about one month to redesign.
WHAT I'VE LEARNED
Considering my client lived overseas, and this was my first full-time project, planning my time became a large focus, other than the project itself.
For the first time ever, I took very strict criticism from a client. This taught me to always have reasoning behind my design decisions and how to deal with constructive criticism.
